Daisy Ma
Senior Financial Analyst / Data Scientist
Daisy is a Senior Financial Analyst / Data Scientist at Weatherstone. She has a Master’s of Science degree in Finance from the University of Denver. Her training in quantitative methods and financial modeling makes her an important addition to the team. With a passion for utilizing advanced technology to automate and optimize complicated procedures, Daisy loves programming for different projects and managing massive data at work. Seeing her programs successfully generate accurate results or improve efficiency brings her the greatest joy. In her spare time, Daisy enjoys learning and researching math and computer science to create innovative solutions in the finance field.
David J. Kubik
President, Investment Committee Member
David J. Kubik is the President of Weatherstone. David has 20 years of experience in the financial industry and has an extensive level of expertise in the fixed income markets. Leveraging this experience combined with his comprehensive analytical processes, David strategically builds portfolios for clients focused on creating efficient and reliable streams of income while minimizing risk exposure levels. David is a critical member of the investment team and oversees many of the fixed income investment strategies at Transform Wealth.
David started his career in Chicago at the Institutional Fixed Income firm of Griffin, Kubik, Stephens, and Thompson. David was also the Vice President and Regional Manager at Alliance Bernstein, a New York-based asset management firm and was Vice President of Institutional Wealth Management at Colorado State Bank and Trust (BOKF). David holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. David is also a Certified Private Wealth Advisor®, and earned this designation from Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
David currently serves as a member of the board of trustees for the Denver Seminary. David has a passion for the underserved children in our communities and has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Clayton Early Learning. Additionally, David sits on the Advisory Board of the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy at Regis University. David resides in Highlands Ranch with his wife Kate and three children. They have a deep passion for their family, friends, community, and church.
Gordan C. Post
Investment Committee Member
Gordan C. Post is a Senior Financial Advisor at Transform Wealth. Gordan has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry having held roles in research, trading, portfolio management, and financial planning. In addition to serving the needs of his clients, Gordan is also a member of the investment team and assists in many of the fixed income and equity investment strategies at Transform Wealth.
Gordan began his career in Philadelphia on the fixed income trading desk of CoreStates Financial, a super-regional bank holding company. From there he took a senior leadership role at a boutique fixed income research and trading firm in New York City before eventually moving to Denver. After skiing for several months, Gordan landed at a local community bank and trust where he founded and spent several years building their investment program before moving to CoBiz Financial (BOKF) as a Senior Vice President of Trust Investments. Later, he moved into a Senior Portfolio Manager role at CoBiz Wealth where he was a voting member of their Investment Committee and helped implement their equity and fixed income strategies.
Gordan holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance with a Minor in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration degree with a dual emphasis in Investment Management and Finance from the University of Colorado. Gordan is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant, having earned this designation in 2013.
After spending the early part of his career serving institutional clients, Gordan made a conscious decision to migrate to the personal side of the industry and use his expertise to help individuals and families achieve financial security.
Gordan has previously served on a number of boards serving Denver’s Jewish community including the Jewish Foundation, JewishColorado and Temple Sinai. Gordan lives in Denver with his wife, Bonnie and his two boys. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, reading, playing guitar and exploring Colorado with his family.
Nick Pacienza
Advisory Services Representative
Nick is the lead Advisory Services Representative at Weatherstone Capital Management. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Nick attended the University of Denver and received a Bachelor’s of Business Management. Nick is the primary point of contact for all Weatherstone advisors and directs all operations processing as well as advisor relationship management.
Prior to joining Weatherstone, Nick was a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial, as well as head trader and advisor specialist with Jenkins Wealth. Having worked in the industry for nearly a decade, he has a wide breath of experience and is passionate about contributing to his advisors’ success.
When he is not working, he cheers on the Pittsburgh Steelers and spends time with family and friends. He enjoys spending time in the mountains and hopes to one day retire with a house on the beach and another one on the slopes.
Kelli Panther
Operations Associate
Kelli is an Operations Associate bringing over 40 years of experience working with clients. Kelli began her financial services career with J. Daniel Bell in Denver in 1982. She has also spent time at both Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch as a Client Services Specialist where she managed relationships with high net worth clients. Kelli prides herself on customer service, building relationships and working well with her fellow colleagues.
Kelli and her husband Mike are Colorado natives and enjoy hiking, camping and their fun-loving Goldendoodle dog.
Kerry Vega
Operations
Kerry is an Operations Associate with Weatherstone. Kerry is the primary client service liaison for Weatherstone’s investment management business providing support to advisors and their clients. Kerry began her financial services career in 2011 when she joined Weatherstone Capital Management. Prior to joining Weatherstone, Kerry worked in legal administration.
Kerry and her husband Ray have four school-aged children which keep them extremely busy.
Luis Perez
Chief Operations Officer
Luis is Chief Operations Officer at Weatherstone. Originally from Florida, Luis attended the University of Central Florida and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. Luis is responsible for overseeing the firm’s key operations and technology processes to ensure effective use of firmwide systems to create a seamless client experience.
Prior to working with Weatherstone, Luis worked as an Operations Manager at Northstar Investment Advisors and with The Milestone Group as an Operations Analyst.
Mark J. Riley
Chief Compliance Officer
Mark is Chief Compliance Officer with over 30 years’ experience working in the brokerage and wealth management industries.
Mark started his career as a financial consultant with Smith Barney, Harris Upham followed by 18 years with Charles Schwab in the Mutual Fund Operations division. His vast experiences include management oversight of trading, operations and client service teams with a commitment to serving and enriching the client experience. After a rewarding career with Charles Schwab, Mark spent 10 years with a Denver-based wealth management firm, The Milestone Group, where he was Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Operations Officer. In this role he also provided project leadership over several technology initiatives that helped improve the client experience and reduced risk to the firm.
Mark grew up in California and graduated with a Finance degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Mark has two sons, Austin and Duncan, both college undergraduates beginning the next phase of their educational journeys in the medical profession. Mark and the family are active in the backcountry enjoying the Colorado outdoor lifestyle. For many years Mark was an active Boy Scouts leader and for five years he recently served as a board member of Hope Haven Rwanda, a non-profit organization delivering outstanding education and discipleship to one of the most vulnerable communities in Rwanda.
Michael Ball
Managing Director, Investment Committee Member
Michael Ball is Managing Director and Lead Portfolio Manager at Weatherstone Capital Management. With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Michael has been working with people to manage their investment portfolios and achieve their financial goals. In addition to working with individual investors and small businesses, Michael provides money management services to financial advisors throughout the country as an investment strategist managing SMA accounts on several broker / dealer and independent advisory platforms. Michael began his career managing investment programs for The Bank of Idaho and Sky Valley Bancorp, where he was a member of the investment committee.
Michael has been a guest on television networks including CNBC and Fox Business News, and is often quoted in publications such as Barron’s, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. Michael was the author of “Built to Last”, a comprehensive historical study of sustainable withdrawal rates from investment accounts that was published in Financial Planning Magazine in 1998.
Michael graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance and a Minor in Accounting. Michael also holds the Certified Financial Planner designation.
Michael Meador
Director of Strategic Initiatives, Investment Committee Member
Michael serves on the Investment Committee, primarily concentrating on portfolio construction and monitoring key investment themes. Michael also focuses on multiple facets of the firm including business initiatives, systems and strategy deployments, and portfolio strategy and implementation.
Prior to working with Weatherstone, Michael worked at Bernstein Global Wealth Management focused on developing client relationships, investment management and financial planning.
As a proud Colorado Native, Michael and his wife Jodi live in Highlands Ranch, CO, with their daughter and son, Ryleigh and Cooper, and dog Peyton. As an avid Colorado sports fan, he enjoys cheering for all our home teams, especially the Rockies, Broncos, and Colorado State Rams. When he is not helping clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
Nathan J. Kubik
CEO, Investment Committee Member
Nathan J. Kubik is the Chief Executive Officer of Weatherstone. Nathan has spent over 20 years working extensively in all areas of the investment markets. Nathan has been quoted in numerous articles from national news sources including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Fox Business, ABC News, USA Today, Investor’s Business Daily, ETF Trends, and the Associated Press. Specializing in asset allocation, portfolio construction, style/sector analysis, strategic and tactical investment strategies, asset liability modeling, and risk exposure analytics, Nathan oversees many of Weatherstone’s investment strategies.
Nathan started his career in Chicago as an equity analyst at a private equity firm and then as a fixed income specialist at an investment banking firm. He was a member of Smith Barney’s institutional investment advisory arm, Consulting Group, managing assets for pension funds, foundations, non-profits, endowments, and insurance companies. He was a partner of a boutique investment banking and equity research firm.
Throughout his extensive career in the financial services industry, Nathan recognized the undeniable fact that the motivations and structure of most financial firms result in an advisor’s and client’s interests being misaligned, to the detriment of the client. Nathan is passionate about surrounding clients with a team of financial experts and delivering unbiased, individually-tailored solutions.
Nathan is a Certified Investment Management Analyst®, and earned this designation from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. Nathan is also a Certified Private Wealth Advisor®, and earned this designation from Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He earned his MBA with a focus in Finance from Daniels College at the University of Denver and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois with a dual major in Finance and Economics.
Nathan and his wife, Sonya, are proud parents of their three daughters. Active in the community, Nathan serves on the Executive Advisory Board at the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business. He has also served on the finance committee and board of directors for Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, a non-profit dedicated to Colorado’s abused and neglected children. Nathan is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association® and a member of Young Presidents Organization.
Sandra Knecht
Investment Committee Member
Sandi Knecht has 30 years of experience within the financial services industry. She joined Transform Wealth as a Senior Financial Advisor in 2019. Sandi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing individuals, families, organizations, and endowments’ investment portfolios. She enjoys taking a financial planning approach initially, so that she can fully understand a client’s particular situation, overall financial picture, and long-term goals. By customizing her approach, it allows her to tailor an investment strategy for each individual client’s situation, and prioritize what is most important to them. Her emphasis on building relationships through active listening and building trust has served her well in working with many individuals, as well as their families over time, and through various stages of their lives. She believes in active management, and adding value by being disciplined, and proactive in an ever-evolving financial environment.
She began her career in financial services in 1992 working for Oppenheimer Funds. Most of her career has been spent with Charles Schwab & Co., where she worked full time, while attending school at the University of Colorado at Denver for Finance. On top of that, she earned her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2001. During her career at Schwab, she was instrumental in their evolution into advice for individual investors, and helped pioneer Schwab Private Client in 2002. For a period of time, she was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom, where she managed her own portfolio for income through option strategies. More recently, she worked for BOK Financial as a Senior Wealth Advisor for approximately 4 years.
Sandi and her husband, Ryan, have a blended family of 4 children. Sandi’s oldest daughter is Sarah, who is about to graduate from the University of Denver with an Environmental/Geology Degree. Her younger daughter, Missy, is currently in high school, and is busy as an All-Star Cheerleader. Her cheer team just recently won the Worlds Cheerleading U.S. Trials, and then went on to become a World Champion for 2024! The live up in the mountains and enjoy the beautiful views and wonderful wildlife! Sandi is a native Coloradan, likes to travel, go fishing, boating, play golf, and spend time with family and friends. She has two adorable dogs, Daisy and Boo, that she likes to spend time with as well. She currently is part of the Governance Council for Project Angel Heart, a wonderful non-profit that provides medically-tailored meals to Coloradans dealing with life-threatening illnesses.
Yiwen Chen
Director of Trading, Investment Committee Member
As Director of Trading, Yiwen is focused on improving and integrating trading and portfolio management. He serves on the firm’s Investment Committee and evaluates investment opportunities across equities, fixed income and alternative asset classes. Yiwen earned his CFA Charter in 2016.
Prior to working with Weatherstone, Yiwen was a Portfolio Manager and Director of Trading at BSW Wealth Partners in Boulder, Colorado. In his 8 years there, Yiwen was focused on client relationship management, investment strategy, portfolio construction and client reporting.
Yiwen graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. In his free time, Yiwen enjoys playing golf, football, basketball and snowboarding.
Tanner Harmon
Controller
Tanner Harmon is the Controller of Weatherstone, where he primarily handles the firm’s accounting function.
Prior to working with Weatherstone, Tanner started his career at KPMG LLP in its Denver office where he audited both public and private companies in a number of industries, including financial services, telecom, media, and manufacturing. During his time at KPMG and collegiate work experience, Tanner gained a passion for project management, collaboration, and process improvement.
Tanner is an active CPA license holder under the state of Colorado. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with significant additional coursework in Finance. Afterwards, he attended Arizona State University where he received his Masters of Accounting with an emphasis in Data and Analytics.
Although he was born in the south, Tanner gained a love for the mountains during his schooling in Utah and has loved Colorado from the moment he arrived. He enjoys spending his free time working out, hiking / skiing in the mountains, traveling, and watching NBA Basketball.
Kim D. Young
Director of Operations and Client Services
Kim is our Director of Operations and Client Services and oversees and helps to implement our current and future operational systems and workflows. She is also a Client Service Representative and prides herself on excellent customer service and enjoys building relationships with our clients and making them feel comfortable and secure with their planning and investment decisions. Kim started working in the Investment Management field in 1994 at Heim, Young & Associates in Springfield, Missouri. She and her husband Jeff moved to Colorado Springs in April of 2002, where she started with Carnick & Company, now known as Transform Wealth. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Missouri State University.
Kim and her husband Jeff have two beautiful children, Kaylin and Coleson. They enjoy camping and love raising their family in the beautiful state of Colorado.
Linda Penfold
Director of Client Services
Linda is the Director of Client Services at Weatherstone Capital Management. She began a 40-year career in the financial information industry with Standard & Poors Compustat in 1980. Linda has a B.A in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in History from Western State University. Her primary responsibility is client service tasks.
Dylan Burke
Analyst
Dylan joined Transform Wealth as an Analyst in 2023. He is focused on trading and investment analysis across different sectors and asset classes for the firm. Prior to joining Transform Wealth, Dylan was an Analyst at Goldman Sachs in their Global Markets Division.
Originally from outside of Philadelphia, he graduated from the University of Miami, Florida, Cum Laude in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Accounting. In his free time, Dylan enjoys traveling, cooking and following Philadelphia sports teams.
